FOR REAL?
In my decade and a half (plus a few months) at Creekside, we have welcomed well over a thousand new members into our family of faith, including over fifty this past June when we announced that you had to join then if you wanted to be eligible to vote in our recent Church Conference. And I’ve asked every one of them the same thing. I’ve asked them to affirm their faith in Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and I’ve asked if they would support the ministry of Jesus through his Church at Creekside in five specific ways—with their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Now that the Church Conference has come and gone, and your eligibility to vote as a member really doesn’t much matter anymore, I want to take a step back and ask a simple question of all of our members—FOR REAL?!? Did you really mean what you said in those membership commitments? Do you still? Over the next five weeks, we’ll examine each of them, see what the Bible has to say about how faithfully to keep them, and be challenged to double down on being committed, invested members of God’s Church at Creekside—FOR REAL!
