The Reason for the Season

Posted by Jason Danuser on

“Jesus is the reason for the season.” It is cliché, but it is true. Without Jesus, there would certainly be no Christmas celebration. However, Jesus came to this earth out of his wonderful love for us. So in this sense, we are also the reason for the Christmas season. And the “we” includes everyone, from the rich and powerful (like the Magi) to the poor and outcast (like the Shepherds) to the everyday, ordinary folks (like most of us!).

As we prepare once more for the great celebration of Christmas, we will spend this Advent season reflecting on the gifts that God has offered to every person in and through Jesus. For those of us who know him as our Savior and Lord, this will be a time of reflection and thanksgiving. For those who don’t, it will be a time of invitation. I hope you will make plans to join us beginning this Sunday, November 28, as we kick off our new message series entitled “Christmas Gifts” in which we will consider the hope, peace, joy, and love that God gives us. Then, please make plans to join us on Christmas Eve at 3pm, 5pm, or 7pm as we celebrate the ultimate gift of Jesus!
